Nearto

Controlled beta

Privacy Policy

A plain-language account of the data used to make nearby travel and social experiences work.

Effective date

28 August 2026. This policy covers the controlled Nearto external beta.

Data we collect

Nearto stores the account email, profile and organization details you provide, your city, posts, trips, events, event website links and uploaded event covers, social connections, messages, meetups, attendance, blocks, reports, and security session records. Public place coordinates belong to places, not to a live user location.

How we use data

We use this data to operate the social travel service, authenticate accounts, deliver requested communications, prevent abuse, provide support, and maintain service security and reliability.

Sharing

Nearto does not sell personal data or use cross-app tracking. Profile fields and content are shared only on the product surfaces where you publish them. Geoapify processes address-search text and serves OpenStreetMap-based map tiles when you use Event location features. Cloudflare R2 stores organizer-uploaded event covers. Other infrastructure providers process data only to operate Nearto.

Event websites and images

When an organizer supplies an event website and no cover upload, Nearto may read that public page to find its Open Graph preview image. Nearto stores the remote image URL as event metadata and does not copy that image into Nearto storage. Viewing the event can therefore request the image directly from the website or its image host, which may receive ordinary request information such as your IP address and browser details. Nearto sends no referrer with that image request.

Retention and control

Use Account & privacy to export or delete your account. Deletion removes account-linked product data, active sessions, and event covers uploaded by an organization owned by that account. A safety report about a deleted account may be retained without that account identifier when needed to review abuse.

Location

Continuous location sharing is disabled. If you tap Use current location in Events, the app sends a one-time precise coordinate to Nearto only to calculate nearby results; the coordinate is discarded after that request and is not stored in your profile, analytics, or a location-history table. You can always choose a city or place manually instead. An organizer-selected Event venue and its public coordinates are stored and published as part of that Event; an organizer’s device position is never published.

Privacy requests

Use the in-product export and deletion controls whenever possible. For privacy questions or requests, email nearto@impai.me. A confirmed formal controller notice will be added before broader release.
